”I believe we should claim certain rights for children and labour for their universal recognition” was said by Eglantyne Jebb who was the founder of what today is Save the children. The organisation was first established in the United Kingdom in 1919, and have become a worldwide alliance that fight for children. Twenty-eight separate organisations have been set up in many different countries, which is a global network of non profit organisations making a difference to children’s lives in over 120 countries over the world.
Save the Children works with several things, among others:

Results/The way to achievement:
Save the Children work in many countries with humanitarian emergencies. In these areas they have lots of projects going on. They provide families with food, shelter, clean water and medical care. They also help children getting an education, and focus on their psychological health after a crisis. There is no doubt that Save the Children is a successful organisation, the Ocean tsunami is a good example. Working with 80 local organisations they provided families with emergency relief, reaching 276000 children and families in Indonesia alone. Their rapid response saved thousands of children in Indonesia, Sri Lanka and India.
As a big global organisation, save the Children have a powerful voice in campaigning for change. They encourages their supporters to put pressure on decision makers to change policies and practices, to ensure children rights.
Working with governments and other organisations, Save the Children are saving lives by improving health situations. They are among other things giving access to better health care for children and mothers and improving community health services. Save the Children was awarded with US$60 million from the Bill and Melinda Gates foundation to preventing newborn illness, over twenty million mothers and babies have benefited from this through treatments for infections and health educations.
These are just some of the things Save the Children have done.
Income:
Save the Children depend on contributions, which they get a lot of from many sources like foundations, governments, companies and individuals.
Language:
There are, as said, 28 Save the Children organisations, so there are definitely many different languages used. But the alliance which includes all the organisations use are international language of course. There are many web sites, I used the international one to getting information, so it was in English.
Why I chose this organisation:
Because I am really interested in children’s welfare, and think it is important that they should grow up in a safe environment. Firstly they deserve to have a chance in life, and nevertheless the fact that they are our future.
